Data Coverage
Where our WARN notice data comes from, and where the gaps are.
We track WARN Act layoff notices from 49 of 50 states, pulling each state's official source on a daily basis. The handful of states below are exceptions, for the reasons given.
Important:an empty result for one of these states doesn't mean there have been no layoffs there. It means the state doesn't publish the data in a form we can track. Layoffs may still be occurring.
Not currently tracked
These states don't publish WARN notices in a public, machine-readable format, so there's nothing for us to collect.
New Hampshire
New Hampshire releases WARN notices only by public-records request to NH Employment Security, so there is no published list to track.
Official state source →Wyoming
Wyoming keeps WARN notices confidential under state law (Wyo. Stat. § 9-2-2607); the state does not publish them.
Official state source →How we collect the data
Each covered state publishes WARN filings differently: downloadable spreadsheets, online tables, PDFs, or data portals. We read each state's official source directly and normalize it into one searchable list. When a state changes its website or format, coverage can briefly lapse until we update; if you notice a state that looks out of date, let us know.
